New OpenELEC-Generic r17013-ga54b748 Release Image
The Generic image is a “catch-all” build containing more drivers than any other image. As of OpenELEC version 4.0, a number of of other builds are now being rolled into the Generic image. The Generic build will now be used for most devices (Fusion, Ion, Intel, Generic). If you have a device that is not covered by the other images (ATV, RPi, Virtual, etc…) or you are going to install OpenELEC onto a laptop or desktop computer this is probably the best image to use.

This image is labelled “Virtual” – and did not boot when I tried to update my 17009 install with it.

There has been an update to the video driver used in the virtual builds, and it looks like its causing a few issues – I have flagged this with the rest of the OE team, so hopefully it should be fixed soon.
What you will probably find that it does boot, you will be able to access it on the network / ssh / etc… Its just the screen that is blank.
There is possible a temp work around, depending on what VM product you are using you could change the hardware profile to version 10 and it might work. More info at http://openelec.tv/forum/20-development-discussion/67846-xbmc-gotham-generic-nightly-builds?start=270#95510
Thankyou for the reply but I guess I should have been clearer.
This is meant to be a “Generic Build” not a Virtual one and it is listed in the Generic URL

- that is the issue with r17013
I am using 17009 Generic at the moment, and the fault I have is DTS movies play as DTS passthru, and DTS bitsteam over the analogue decoder simultaneously over HDMI.
I can work around this by setting the analogue output to SPDIF, then immediately to HDMI, exit settings and it seems to work okay until reboot.
